The theme of the Meetup was “Venture Philanthropy”. We had an opportunity to hear from the representative director of Social Investment Partners, Mr. Tomoya Shiraishi, and Mr. Yusuke Matsuda from Teach for Japan. Mr. Matsuda was passionate about creating a movement to offer high-quality education for every child in Japan, all stemming from his own experiences (having met an amazing teacher in junior high school who changed his life, encountered Teach for America when he was studying at Harvard University, etc.).
Afterwards, joined by Ms. Kudo, the head of social investment promotion department at the Nippon Foundation Mr. Fukuhara (WG88) moderated the great panel discussion. Then, the networking time had began with a toast from Mr. Minoura. There were a total of 39 participants, 4 from AMP, and 1 from undergrad. Special thanks to Mr. Fukuhara, who was in charge of the overall planning, preparation, and direction, Mr. Inoue (WG06), Mr. Tachibana, and Ms. Shimanuki, who were in charge of the registration.
